Fire Safety

Fire Blanket.

In the event of a ktchen fire:

The fire blanket is located in the kitchen mounted on the wall, instructions on how to operate are on the casing of the blanket itself.

Fire Alarms.

Daisy Cottage is fitted with 5 interlinked alarms mains connected with battery backup. These are a mixture of smoke, heat and carbon monoxide strategically placed throughout the cottage.

Upon hearing the fire alarm – LEAVE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATELY to the meeting point in the parking area by the woodstore.

Fire Ladder.

For the safety of guests sleeping on the first floor of the cottage, we have provided a fire ladder to aid any escape.

The fire ladder is located within the oak wardrobe within the dressing area outside the bedroom. Instructions for use may be seen on top of the wardrobe and on the ladder itself.

If all other exits are blocked during a fire, the ladder can be lowered from the main window in the upstairs bedroom.

The main window in the upstairs bedroom has a floating mullion giving the full window aperture for ease of escape in the event of a fire.

IMPORTANT: (do not try and use the fire ladder with the Velux windows).

Fire Extinguishers.

There are 2 x Kidde dry powder fire extinguishers within the property suitable for class A,B & C type fires:

Class A is for rubbish, wood, and paper.
Class B is for liquids and gases.
Class C is for energized electrical sources.

Instructions on how to use the fire extinguisher can be found on the appliance.

The downstairs extinguisher is located in the cupboard under the stairs in the utility area. This extinguisher is held in by a strap. To release pull the red tag on the strap.

The upstairs fire extinguisher is located within the oak wardrobe within the dressing area outside the bedroom. A fire extinguisher sign may be seen on top of the wardrobe.

Emergency Lighting.

In each bedroom there are Xtralite Nightsafe torches. In the event of fire affecting the electricity in the building, these lights will automatically light up.

Housekeeping.

Smoking Policy.

Daisy Cottage is a no smoking holiday cottage. This includes Vaping as the fire detection equipment is sensitive to such devices and cigarette smoke.

Water Supply.

Daisy Cottage is on mains water, if needed the stop tap can be found under the sink within the kitchen at the rear of the cupboard.

Electricity Consumer Unit

The consumer unit for the electric can be found in the dressing room in the downstairs bedroom by the door. If for any reason the electrical supply is disconnected please contact Sue & Dave.

Power Cut

If you experience a power cut while at Daisy Cottage, the ovens on the cooker will not function until the time has been reset on the cooker. In order to do this please watch the short video.

Any failure in the power supply will automatically illuminate the Xtralite Nitesafe torches located in each of the bedrooms. Please ensure the torches are located in their docking station and the socket is switched ON before retiring to bed

The torches may also be used as night lights or as torches for those wishing to go for a walk after dark.

Waste Recycling.

Our local authority provide 2 bins for refuse collection, the green bin is for recycling waste, the grey bin for all other waste. Both bins are located by the wood store.
